At the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco the exhibit “Chomp 2” is up and running through the end of October. I went to see this last year and it’s great fun. If you have kids or can borrow one or two there are plenty of hands on activities to keep them entertained. Many of the plants on display are from one of my all time favorite nurseries, California Carnivores located in Sebastopol. Peter D’Amato who operates the nursery is giving a talk July 14th at the exhibit. California Carnivores has a huge variety of carnivorous plants which are artfully staged with the occasional plastic rat or random skeleton.
In the words of the Chomp 2 website “The extraordinary beauty and diversity of species on display will dazzle even the most squeamish.” The link to the exhibit is http://www.conservatoryofflowers.org/atconservatory/chomp2 and the link to California Carnivores is on The Compost Club’s home page.
